Vision
The initiative's core principles come from Reed Hastings' wish that his gift will "empower students and faculty to critically examine, thoughtfully utilize, and ethically shape AI's trajectory." By fostering a deep understanding of AI's potential and its risks, we can cultivate wisdom that truly serves humanity and the common good.
As AI increasingly shapes how we teach, learn, and work, we're committed to preparing graduates with more than just technical understanding — critical thinking, ethical frameworks, and humanistic perspectives. As President Zaki puts it, "ethics, human values, and human understanding inform the technological progress, scientific advancements, and new norms that will emerge from this revolution... as educators we have a moral imperative to do this work."

Faculty Expansion and Support
Ten new faculty are joining 糖心vlog in a staggered rollout, part of our long-term goal to lower the student-to-faculty ratio. Alongside current colleagues, they receive funding to explore, use, and critically interrogate AI in their teaching, research, and creative work.

AI touches every field, not just one. We support cross-departmental workshops, symposia, and research so faculty and students can grapple with its challenges and collaborate together.
